Knitting Basics 1 - $25
April 3rd 6-8pm
This two hour class for the beginning beginner will start with a basic overview of knitting tools and materials and proceed to teach the knitted cast on, knit stitch, and purl stitch.
Knitting Basics 2 - $25
April 10th 6-8pm
This two hour class is a continuation of Knitting 1. Instruction will be given in increases, decreases, and "reading" your knitting. Patterns and handouts will be provided via email before the class date; please give an email address when you register for the class.
Prerequisite: Knitting 1 or instructor approval. You must be able to cast on, knit and purl to take this class successfully.
Knitted Hats: May 1st & 8th 6-8pm $45
Hats are a great way to learn new skills and try out new yarns. Kira will bring simple hat formulas for people knitting their first-ever hats, or more experienced knitters can choose any of Kira’s hat patterns. Two two-hour sessions.
Materials for simple ribbed or roll-brim stockinette hat: Pattern (included) 100 grams of worsted or aran weight yarn, 16" circular and double-pointed needles in a size appropriate for that yarn, stitch markers, yarn needle.
If you have made hats before and want to make a more complex design, browse the options at www.kirakdesigns.com and choose any of Kira's knitted hat patterns for purchase and bring all the supplies specified. Bring a variety of needle sizes for swatching. Patterns will be available to purchase at the first class.
Classes with Peter Franzi:
Basic Crochet Stitches - $25
Come learn the basics of crochet stitches. The class covers only stitch construction. No previous crochet experience necessary. Class materials: J Hook and worsted or bulky weight yarn, solid and light-colored.
April 7th 6-8pm
Crochet for Beginners Level 1.. 6 Hours - $65
Learn to crochet with award-winning designer and instructor, Peter Franzi. Over three weeks, you will learn all basic crochet stitches and terminology and pattern reading. In-class projects give welcome opportunity to put into practice your newly learned skills. No previous experience with crochet needed or expected. Come and join in the fun.
April 14th, 21st & 28th 6-8pm
Crochet for Beginner’s Level 2.. 6 Hours -- $65
Use your beginner’s skills to learn more complex stitch construction. Experience a chainless foundation stitch. Did you know that there is more than one way to work a Double Crochet? I’ll show you at least 3 more. Learn popcorns, clusters and shells. Purls in crochet? You betcha! Prerequisite: Crochet for Beginners Level 1 or equivalent knowledge (with instructor approval).

Belle Époque Shawl: June 12th & 19th 6-8pm $45
Bring your crochet skills to the next level with this elegant shawl, featuring graceful rows of eyelets and a delicate lace edging. Learn how to read the shawl pattern and how to follow the edging instructions in both written and charted form. Two two-hour sessions.
Materials: Pattern (included) 390 yards fingering weight yarn in main color and 100 yards fingering weight yarn in contrast color OR 450 yards fingering weight yarn for solid color shawl, US H (5 mm) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge, removable stitch marker, yarn needle, pins (for blocking).
